Metagenomic Next-Generation Sequencing (mNGS)

Metagenomic Next-Generation Sequencing (mNGS) is a high-throughput sequencing technique used to analyze the total genetic material (DNA or RNA) from all organisms present in a specimen, such as environmental, clinical, or complex biological samples. mNGS captures the entire genomic content in a sample, enabling the study of microbiomes, or identification of unknown pathogens. It detects both culturable and unculturable microorganisms and is useful for identification of pathogens (viruses, bacteria, fungi, parasites) in infectious diseases, detection of antibiotics resistant genes for effective antibacterial therapy, discovering novel or unexpected pathogens, and studies on microbiomes.

Texas Scientific LLS offers mNGS service at competitive prices and with a rapid turnaround time for a variety of specimens, including body fluids (including blood, abscess, joint, peritoneal, pleural, cerebrospinal, urine, and bronchoalveolar lavage fluids), biological tissue, stool and soil.
