Oral Fentanyl Test
Fentanyl and its analogs are potent synthetic narcotic analgesics known for their rapid onset and brief duration of action. Initially prescribed for chronic pain management, fentanyl is now frequently misused in illicit contexts. The risk of overdose death from fentanyl and its analogs is significant, particularly due to illicitly manufactured fentanyl that is often combined with or sold as heroin, cocaine, or other illicit drugs, sometimes mixed with xylazine. In the body, fentanyl is metabolized into norfentanyl and other metabolites, which are not detectable through routine opiate drug screens. Texas Scientific LLC offers comprehensive screening and confirmatory testing for fentanyl, norfentanyl, and xylazine to identify illicit drug use involving fentanyl or for therapeutic drug monitoring. If initial screening results are presumptively positive, a detailed quantitative/qualitative confirmation test is conducted to verify the positive findings. The Oral Fentanyl Test includes the following analytes:
Fentanyl
Norfentanyl
Xylazine
The test identifies both prescription medications and illicit substances, assisting in patients’ rehabilitation and recovery efforts. A positive result indicates that a drug or its metabolites were detected in the testing specimen. A negative result indicates that the drug was not detected in the testing specimen, or it was below the detection threshold.
